Full description
Our goal is to have a solar system on every roof, a storage unit in every house, and an electric car in every garage. Enpal makes this possible with an integrated total solution for decentralized energy—from solar systems and battery storage to wall boxes, smart meters, and heat pumps. At the heart of it all is our AI-powered platform Enpal. One+, which intelligently connects thousands of systems and efficiently optimizes electricity procurement and feed-in on the energy market.
Omniwatt Energy GmbH is Enpal’s electricity division, making clean energy accessible to every household—from Germany’s most affordable electricity rates to smart energy solutions that optimally integrate generation, storage, and consumption.
With ambitious growth targets and a rapidly expanding customer base, we are building a team that is actively shaping the German energy market. In doing so, we combine startup agility with the scale of a market leader—across all areas, from operations and technology to finance, customer support, and product development.
What you'll do:
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (f/m/x) to take end-to-end ownership of building and scaling our core product systems. You'll design and implement reliable services across our stack, integrate with external platforms and teams, and own the full lifecycle from idea to deployment. You'll also help shape our technical direction and mentor other engineers.
Build and own complex solutions end-to-end, collaborating with your team and stakeholders to deliver product features that solve real user problems.
Design scalable backend services with NestJS/Node.js, create frontend experiences with Next.js/React, and architect data models with MongoDB.
Leverage your strong infrastructure expertise to design, deploy, and operate reliable cloud-native solutions in Azure.
Build and consume APIs, integrating with internal and external systems while collaborating with and guiding other engineering teams.
Own your deployments, build CI/CD pipelines, manage infrastructure as code, and maintain applications in production.
Drive code quality through testing, code reviews, and continuous integration, setting standards for the team.
Monitor systems, optimize performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and make architectural decisions for scalability.
Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, foster a culture of clean code and best practices, and lead by example in technical discussions.
What you'll bring:
Strong experience delivering end-to-end software solutions and driving technical excellence.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, or solid experience with other modern languages and willingness to learn our stack.
Solid hands-on experience working with IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and system architecture. Experience with Microsoft Azure is a strong plus.
Strong experience working with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases, including schema design and optimization.
Proven track record building and consuming APIs, with experience leading cross-team integrations.
Demonstrated ability to own projects from conception through deployment and maintenance.
Strong commitment to code quality, testing strategies, and building systems that scale.
Experience mentoring or leading other engineers.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Next.js and NestJS specifically.
Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.).
Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.).
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with monitoring, observability, and performance optimization tools.
Experience designing system architecture for high-scale applications.
Our Engineering Culture value engineers who:
Take end-to-end ownership of their work.
Care deeply about code quality and testing.
Embrace responsibility for the full lifecycle of their applications—from development through production.
Collaborate effectively across teams and communicate clearly about technical decisions
Think about scalability and long-term system design.
Lead by example and help grow the skills of those around them.
Are you interested even if you don't meet all the requirements? Apply anyway! We look forward to discovering your potential—regardless of whether your experience meets every single requirement. ☀️
