Senior Backend Developer (Go) — Full Remote, European Timezones Only (UTC−1 to UTC+3)

Read this first — two non-negotiables Go is the job, not a bonus skill. We're only considering candidates with 5+ years of hands-on, production experience in Go. If Go isn't (one of) your primary languages, this role won't be a match — and we'd rather save you the time. You must live in a European timezone (UTC−1 to UTC+3). This is a hard requirement. Applications from outside this range won't be considered, regardless of how strong the profile is. Still with us? Great — here's why this role is worth your attention. Who we are We're Jobtome (https://weare.jobtome.com/) — an HR Tech company building the modern web applications that companies use to run complex hiring and recruitment workflows at scale. Our products are highly interactive, data-driven, and built for real-world usage — not demos. We work with a strong product mindset, short feedback loops, and a pragmatic engineering culture: quality, ownership, and code we're still proud of a year from now. The role You'll join our engineering team as a Senior Go Backend Developer and take real ownership of critical backend systems and services — not ticket-pushing, actual ownership. You'll design, build, and evolve the backend services that power our products, weigh in on architectural decisions, improve system reliability, and help shape how backend engineering is done across the company. This is a hands-on senior role: you'll write production Go every day and be deeply involved in technical decisions that have real impact. Quick reminder before the details 5+ years of production Go experience — required Based in a European timezone (UTC−1 to UTC+3) What you'll do Design, build, and maintain backend services written in Go Build and evolve APIs (GraphQL and/or REST) behind complex product workflows Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend architectures Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, data engineers, and designers Contribute to data modeling, business logic, and performance optimization Review code and take part in architectural and technical discussions Raise the bar on code quality, testing, observability, and system resilience Actively tackle refactoring, technical debt, and long-term improvements Own backend features end to end, from design to production Take part in Agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) Our stack Go sits at the center of everything. Around it, you'll work with (and should be comfortable with): API design (GraphQL and/or REST) PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases) BigQuery and other NoSQL databases Distributed systems and service-oriented architectures Docker and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab pipelines preferred) A cloud-infrastructure mindset (GCP or other providers) Observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing) Testing (unit and/or integration) Kubernetes Nice to have: Working experience with Python Exposure to Protobuf and gRPC What "senior" means to us Titles vary — here's what we actually mean. A senior engineer at Jobtome can: Work independently without needing perfect specs Own complex features and systems Make informed architectural decisions and explain the trade-offs Write clean, maintainable, well-structured code Spot problems early and propose solutions Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical people alike Raise the team's quality bar through example and reviews How we work Full remote — from anywhere within UTC−1 to UTC+3 (yes, we're repeating it on purpose) Core hours, with flexibility around them Daily working language: English Find more English Speaking Jobs in Switzerland on Arbeitnow
